~ GRAY MOUSER RIVER PHOTOS ~
NOVEMBER 2003

Downrivr.jpg - 13102 Bytes Down-river view:

This gorgeous mid-November day
shows off blue of water and sky.
Cottonwood trees along the bank
have yet to turn the pure gold
that they show later. They are
the last trees to lose their leaves.
Neighbor John M. in his outboard is
heading toward the bank where he will
cut up some more logs for firewood,
which he stores on raft under blue tarp.

This planter was created by Dave and Madeleine
in order to dress up the moorage's concrete
"work float." The main plant is bamboo, but
ornamental grasses, dusty miller,and flowering
succulent ground-covers make the planter look lush
well into the fall.

Rogers have one of the best
container gardens on the moorage.
This maple, a rather subdued tone
of green all summer, finally exploded
into a winner.

Early this year, the Rogers brought in a
ginkgo tree, which seem to turn pure
gold overnight.

A Dangerous Water Weed

Several neighbors decided to create water gardens in backwater, and among things, imported Water Hyacinths ... just a FEW plants. Now look at them. We have since been warned by State Officials NOT to put hyacinths anywhere from when they can escape, because they are a menace and will plug our waterways. These have started to turn brown from an almost-frost, and look where strip along log has been grazed upon by muskrats.

More Water Hyacinths, and some
Water Lettuce (another runaway water
weed) tucked in there, too.
